Steve is a leadership coach, organization development consultant and educator. For almost thirty years, he has helped groups work more effectively and leaders be successful and find more satisfaction in their careers.

Steve has…

Worked as a railroad engineman from age 17 through 24 (college and part time after college). He still occasionally operates locomotives at various museums around the country.

Holds a commercial pilot’s license since the mid seventies and a flight instructor certificate since 1996. He still gives instruction at a local flight simulator center.

Served as a member and secretary of the Naperville Sister Cities Commission from 2011 through 2015.

Been a member and co-chair of the Chicago Sinfonietta West Suburban Corporate Committee since 2014.

Originally trained as a structural engineer, Steve quickly moved into project management before becoming, in his thirties, the Chief Operating Officer of a large engineering-construction firm.

Despite his professional success, he soon knew the work wasn’t a good fit for him. “It was satisfying in some ways,” he recalls, “but it was too impersonal. Many of the business challenges I saw concerned leadership and interpersonal skills. I wanted to help leaders with those, not only with the technical skills involved with running the business.”

So Steve returned to school to earn a master’s degree in organization development, and then in 1986 launched his own firm – Steve Treacy and Associates — to help leaders and their organizations work more effectively.

Today he:

  • partners and coaches individuals facing leadership, career, and organizational change challenges.
  • consults to numerous senior management groups and leads large and small organization change projects including applied strategic planning, organization redesign, business process design, and interdepartmental team development.
  • has led numerous workshops and presentations on change management strategies that provide rapid, meaningful outcomes with high levels of organizational ownership and support.

Since 1989 Steve has taught in Benedictine University’s Management and Organization Behavior Graduate Program, where he co-authored the Change Management Consulting Certificate Program.

Steve earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Marquette University and his Master’s Degree in Organization Development from Aurora University.
